Confluence Grenache Noir 2025

Our original Grenache. A wine that has been with us from the very beginning. Some wines are simply part of the range. Confluence is part of who we are. It brings together fruit from some of the remarkable vineyards we work with across McLaren Vale - predominantly Blewitt Springs, with a touch of Clarendon - to create a Grenache that is complex, aromatic and beautifully drinkable. And if you want to understand why we're so obsessed with Grenache, this is a pretty good place to start. Meet the Confluence Variety: Grenache Noir Region: McLaren Vale - Blewitt Springs & Clarendon The wine: Complex, aromatic and food friendly, but fantastically drinkable. It evolves in your glass, building layers of fruit and savoury character while retaining beautiful structure and length. And then there's that signature Aphelion savoury finish. The vineyards: 80% Blewitt Springs fruit from Brini, Hickinbotham and Plaisted's vineyards, with 20% Clarendon fruit from Hickinbotham. It's a genuine confluence of sites - different vineyards, different expressions, brought together to create something greater than any one parcel could achieve. The winemaking: 30% whole bunch fermented in stainless steel and small concrete open-top fermenters, then matured in 1,500L Drunk Turtle cocciopesto, seasoned French 2,800L foudre and demi-muid oak. Bottled in February 2026. What does it taste like? Vibrant red with purple hues in the glass. At first there's a savoury core of olive and briar. Give it some air and crunchy raspberry and cranberry begin to emerge. Then the palate opens up: Satsuma plum, wild strawberry and fine sandalwood, held together by fine tannins that give the wine exemplary length. There's real intensity and concentration here — but never heaviness or cloying sweetness. It's the kind of wine that rewards you for paying attention, but doesn't require you to. Pour a glass. Let it breathe. Take another sip. You'll find something new. Goes With Food Pan-seared duck. The spice and body of the duck make a beautiful match for the wine. Goes With Cheese A quality Camembert or washed-rind cheese brings out the wine's mushroom characters without overwhelming its delicate structure. But if you have the patience, this is one to put away. The 2025 Confluence has the structure, concentration and tannin to continue evolving through 2035. Serve at 18°C.
