Calmer pets may simply choose it as a place to lie down. The ocean artwork adds visual interest, while the water creates movement without a motor, speaker or flashing light. Size note: measurements are approximate. How high and firm the mat sits depends on the amount of air and water added. Set It Up in 5 Simple Steps Unfold the mat on a clean, flat surface and inspect the PVC, seams and caps. Inflate the outer ring with air until it holds its shape. Do not overinflate. Add clean tap water to the center—no more than about one-third of its capacity—and remove excess trapped air. Close both caps securely, wipe the outside dry and check for leaks before your pet steps on it. Introduce the mat during a short, supervised session. Use water only. Do not add ice, salt, fragrances, cleaning chemicals or gel products inside the mat. Easy to Drain, Wipe & Store For routine care, change the water about once a week and sooner if it becomes cloudy or develops an odor. No. The center is filled with ordinary tap water. There is no gel insert, power cord or refrigeration system. How much water should I add?
