Booth 7 is a popular premium avocado variety from Florida, where it was one of the main commercial varieties for decades, and it is now also grown commercially in other countries. It is part of the Booth series of numbered selections, and became the most widely planted of the group. Booth 7 ripens late in the season, typically from autumn into winter, helping to fill a gap when few other varieties are ready (timing may vary depending on region and growing conditions). It is a heavy cropper, and can tolerate light frost once established. The fruit are round, similar to Reed, with a thick, slightly rough green skin that stays green when ripe. The seed is small to medium, squat in shape, and removes easily from the flesh. The flesh is buttery and creamy with a rich, pleasant flavour. Fruit commonly weighs 300 to 550 g each. A great variety for keeping quality avocados on the table late in the season. Flower Type: B Colour when ripe: Green Fruit shape: Round Fruit size: Medium-large Seed: Small to medium, squat Fruit quality/taste: Excellent, buttery and creamy. Rich, pleasant flavour. Harvest season: Autumn-Winter (varies by region and local growing conditions) Type: Guatemalan-West Indian hybrid Origin: Florida Tree Habit: Standard Booth 7 is a B flowering type. Avocado trees in our climate are self fertile, but produce more fruit if 2 are planted near each other with opposing flower types. In this case, best planted near an A type, like Reed, Hass, Esther, Pinkerton, Noel or Mexicola Grande, or any other A type tree. Grafted onto Zutano rootstock.
