Berberis 'darwinii' 2L

Bring vibrant spring colour and year-round structure to your garden with Berberis darwinii. This evergreen shrub produces clusters of rich orange flowers, beautifully set against small, glossy, dark green leaves. Its blooms attract pollinators and are followed by blue-black berries. With its dense growth and prickly foliage, Berberis darwinii is ideal for creating an informal evergreen hedge or adding interest to a mixed shrub border. Its arching branches give it an attractive natural shape, while its thorny stems provide useful shelter for garden birds. Easy to grow in sun or partial shade, it thrives in well-drained soil and tolerates a range of garden conditions. Water regularly while establishing and prune after flowering if needed to maintain its shape. Left unpruned, Berberis darwinii can reach approximately 2.5–4 metres in height and spread, so allow space for it to develop. Images show mature plants for illustration. Plants may not be flowering or carrying berries at the time of delivery.
