HERALBONY HERALBONY is a leading creative company working with artists whose creativity has long been overlooked. Their aim is to create a new culture and challenge preconceived ideas about disability through art. Founded in Iwate, northern Japan, by twin brothers, HERALBONY was born out of a family story. Their older brother, Shota, is autistic and lives with an intellectual disability. During their childhood, the brothers were deeply affected by the pitying looks their family and friends gave him. This experience fueled their desire to change perceptions of disability by revealing the power of creativity. "HERALBONY" was a random word Shota wrote down in his notebook when he was seven. Maybe he liked how it tickled his senses, maybe he liked how the word looked when written down. He liked it, he saw meaning in it, so he wrote it. The company was named HERALBONY in the hope of capturing and creating new values from things that may, at first, seem insignificant. The COTODAMA SPEAKER HERALBONY Edition features the exclusive HERALBONY Font, specially developed from Shota's handwritten characters. Just as the word "HERALBONY" was born from a seemingly insignificant note in a childhood notebook, this typeface transforms Shota's unique forms of expression into a new visual language. Immerse yourself in the world of lyrics through this distinctive typeface and discover a new way to experience music. 中尾 涼 / RYO NAKAO Born in 1998 and based in Shiga, Japan. He has been a member of Atelier Yamanami since 2017. Before turning to drawing, he enjoyed cutting paper to create and admire the fan blades of electric fans, which have long fascinated him. His artistic journey began when staff members noticed him imitating handwritten letters and tracing characters on windows with his fingers. When given an English-language newspaper, he carefully copied its text onto drawing paper, leading to his first works on paper. In addition to letters, numbers frequently appear in his work. When drawing, he shows no hesitation or uncertainty, completing pieces with remarkable speed. This sense of momentum and confidence is reflected in the bold forms of the letters and numbers themselves. His characters are often traced repeatedly in different colors using brushes, pens, and sometimes even his fingers, creating rich layers and depth within each composition. In recent years, his practice has expanded beyond letters and numbers to include portraits and subjects that hold personal meaning for him. Combined with his distinctive visual style, these works reveal a unique sensibility that is entirely his own.
