Batik fabric, Hand painted, free motion stitching, hand stitching – Looking back over my solo and group exhibition history at Timeless Textiles is to catalogue my own metamorphosis as an artist. Five solo exhibitions and participation in numerous group exhibitions have stretched my creative muscles, challenged me to explore new possibilities, and contributed to my artistic growth and confidence.While the stitch has remained a constant and central element in my practice, my work has evolved through experimentation with other mediums, including free motion stitching, hand colouring, hand painting and printmaking, as well as using the quilt sandwich as my canvas. I have moved from thread painting into mixed-media textile art, drawing on and combining the many techniques explored along the way.My enduring attraction to nature and landscape continues to inform my work, but these themes have developed into distinct series, each carrying layers of personal history, memory and meaning. Each body of work reflects a stage in my creative journey, revealing not only changes in technique and approach, but also a growing confidence in my artistic voice.For me, metamorphosis is not about leaving the past behind, but about building upon it. The stitch remains my anchor as I continue to experiment, evolve and discover new ways to tell my stories through textiles.
