Maverick - Twins Barossa GSM - 2020

This cuvée comes from the Barossa Valley, in South Australia, where the Klix family settled in 1846. The Maverick estate keeps century-old vines there, including some of the oldest Grenache in the country and Syrah planted around 1870. The valley, with its gently rolling terrain and hot, dry climate, rests on iron-rich clay-limestone soils, the terra rossa, which yield wines of great generosity.This wine is a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre inspired by the great wines of the southern Rhône Valley. The grapes come from the Barossa plots, on clay and limestone soils, which the estate farms according to biodynamic principles, before being vinified to reveal the ripeness of the fruit and the suppleness of the tannins.This wine reveals notes of blackberry, plum, blueberry, black cherry, pepper, clove, garrigue, thyme and liquorice. Very ripe fruit combines with spices and aromatic herbs. The sweetness of the fruit and the generous texture bring lovely smoothness, supported by supple tannins and a spicy finish.
