1966 Gretsch 6120 Chet Atkins Nashville in Rare Black finish
We’re proud to offer this extremely rare 1966 Gretsch 6120 Chet Atkins Nashville in its original factory black finish! Most people think of the 6120 in Gretsch’s classic orange, but this one is something special. Custom ordered in black and built in December 1966, it’s a rare variation of an iconic Gretsch model. It features a 3-ply laminated maple body, original factory Bigsby, gold hardware, a comfortable C-shaped neck profile, and a 1.710” nut width. The original Filter’Tron pickups sound fantastic, with all the character you’d hope for from a great vintage Gretsch. Condition is very good overall. It’s clearly been played and enjoyed over the years, but never abused. One thing that really stands out is how well the binding has held up. It’s in much better shape than what we see on a lot of vintage Gretsch guitars. This black 6120 was also featured in the well-known book The 6120, and a copy of the book is included with the guitar. Weight: 7 lbs. 7 oz. Includes: Original hardshell case and a copy of The 6120. A seriously cool, rare Gretsch with a great look, fantastic original pickups, and a little extra history behind it. You just don’t come across these in black very often.
