Upcycled Khadi Dress - Kempu
Description: This bias-cut upcycled khadi dress is made from surplus handspun and handwoven pure cotton fabric pieces collected from Khadi Bhandars across Karnataka. The fabric is washed, sorted, and joined, a process that takes much longer than cutting new cloth. Lightweight and button-down, it can be worn as a kurta or a full-length overlay. It features a U-shaped yoke and an underarm gusset that allow free arm movement and add a rare detail. Shaped at the waist and flaring toward the hem, this one-of-a-kind dress turns fabric headed for the discard pile into a piece you will keep reaching for. Details: Mandarin collar, full front opening with metal buttons, bias-cut, 2 side pockets, no side slits, three-quarter sleeves with cuffs, U-shaped yoke, and underarm gusset. Important: As each garment is stitched from surplus khadi fabric, the colour shade, joins, and panels will vary from one piece to the next and differ from the image shown. The last image shows the fabric pile. Colour: Shades of reds and maroons. Weight: Approximately 350 grams/dress. Care: Hand wash separately at home in cold water with mild detergent, then dry in the shade. Size: Find the size chart above the size buttons. Note: The dress form is 5'5" tall, has a 34.5" bust, and wears size S. The price shown is for the dress only. Stoles are available here.
