Presented is a very large antique silver plate on copper vase that has been converted into a lamp, likely American in origin and probably made in the 1920s or perhaps a bit earlier. The body is completely hand chased overall, with beautifully chased leaves and flowers on the cap, and gadroon and shell decoration along the top edge. Two cartouches are chased into opposite sides of the piece, both left unengraved. The piece carries hallmarks near the top resembling silver marks, though the piece itself is silver plate rather than solid silver. The lamp is fully working and accommodates three light bulbs for plenty of light, though no shade is included, allowing the buyer to supply their own. The cord exits from the side rather than the bottom so the lamp rests evenly on a table. For shipping purposes, the upper shaft may need to be separated from the cap of the lamp to keep the box a manageable size, with the wiring disconnected at a point on the underside and easily reconnected by matching color coded wires with electrical tape, a very quick process. Condition is superb, with only minor wear to the silver plating at some high points where copper shows through, visible only on close inspection. No dents, breaks, or repairs. Height to the top of the silver plate is 13 3/4 inches. Height to the top of the finial is approximately 27 inches. Diameter at the base is 7 1/4 inches. Diameter at the top is 10 3/4 inches.
