About the producer / region: Nestled at the foot of Mount Elgon is the Bulambuli district of Eastern Uganda, steeped in an extensive history of producing coffee. Unlike most of the world, coffee production in Uganda has retained most of its age-old practices. Since 2022, the Bulambuli Washing Station built by Ibero has been available to farmers. The drying yard, however, sits an hour away in close proximity to the Mbale School of the Deaf, creating opportunities for collaboration between the cooperative and the school. The Uganda Mbale Bloom is produced under the NKG Bloom initiative. The initiative aims to safeguard coffee farmer livelihoods by providing aid in the form of soil analyses, fertiliser, and mobile money.
