Mammoth Ivory Tusk Section Specimen 28

Mammoth Tusk Section with spectacular ivory pattern and grain recovered in the Yukon, this piece is 4” - 4 5/8" tall, the top measurement across is 3 7/16" x 3 1/4" It has split on the bottom which can be filled or separated. Layers are commonly found in mammoth ivory. The outside surface is dark with blue highlights, the inside is a creamy ivory color with darker starburst pattern areas around the rim. The hollow goes through from top to bottom tapering with the bottom being thicker. This is a spectacularly beautiful piece. Good for scrimshaw possible slabbing for jewelry, unique box or pen holder and other small projects. Beautiful bark with creamy interior color. Haven't seen another like this one.
