Snack Series Modulation

The Collision Devices Snack Series Modulation is a compact, DSP-based three-in-one modulation pedal covering chorus, phaser, and flanger. It follows Collision Devices’ approach of putting fairly experimental sounds into small, straightforward pedals. It’s the fourth pedal in the Snack Series, following the Fuzz, Pitcher, and Delay. The basic controls are: FX Level — wet/effected signal level Depth — intensity of the modulation Rate — modulation speed Waveform — Sine, Triangle, Harmonic, or Random Magic — the interesting part; its function changes according to the selected effect 3 onboard presets Expression input assignable to any parameter Standard or momentary footswitch operation Dry/Wet and Kill Dry options The three modes CHORUS: The conventional starting point, but the Magic control pushes it considerably beyond a normal chorus. It adds feedback and a second synchronized LFO that modulates the first LFO. The result can move from conventional chorus toward more animated, unstable modulation. PHASER: Here the Magic control reduces the LFO's resolution, producing a stepped/quantized sweep. Collision Devices describes it as something resembling tiny sequences, so this can move from a conventional sweeping phaser toward rhythmic, almost sequencer-like modulation. FLANGER: The Magic control adds three flanging delay lines that spread apart as you turn it up. This makes the flanger considerably more elaborate than a basic single-line flanger, with increasingly resonant and spatially complex sounds.
