Chest freezers are typically more energy efficient and hold temperature well during openings; upright freezers stand like a fridge and are easier to organize. Where should I place a freezer? In a cool, dry room with clearance around the unit for airflow. Avoid placing it right next to a heat source like a radiator or sunny window.
