Place the plant in a location with partial sunlight or light shade. Violas prefer cooler temperatures, especially in the UK climate. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. Apply a balanced liquid fertiliser during the growing season (spring to early autumn) to promote healthy growth and flowering. Remove faded flowers regularly to encourage continuous blooming. Watch for signs of diseases such as powdery mildew and treat accordingly. Violas are generally hardy in the UK, but you can provide some protection during harsh winters by mulching around the base of the plant and covering with a layer of straw or fleece if temperatures drop significantly.
