New Zealand Pebble Earrings, Made for Vered

After the New Zealand Pebble Ring was finished, Vered asked me to go back to the same handful of pebbles from that beach and find her a matching pair. Out of everything she had brought home, two came out close enough in size and color to hang together. Each pebble is drilled and pinned with gold, the same way as the ring, and the pin carries a small brushed gold cap that sits on top of the stone. A loop is soldered to that cap, and the loop hooks onto a gold stud. That last part is what mattered. It means the pebble comes off. Vered can wear the studs on their own, plain gold on the ear, or hook the stones back on when she wants them. She had asked for exactly that, and it is the reason the pair gets worn as often as it does. The idea stayed with me. Years later it became the way our Requiem studs are built, so that pearls and stones can be hung from them and taken off again. It began here, in 2017, with two pebbles from a beach on the other side of the world. Made in 14K yellow gold. This piece was made for Vered and is not for sale.
