Speed and distance are two of the pronghorn’s greatest defenses. Affectionately dubbed “Speed Goats” by hunters, pronghorn have earned the nickname honestly. Across wide open flats, rolling prairie, and Western basins, their awareness and ability to run nearly 60 miles per hour give little room for error. A small movement at the wrong time can give away hours of careful work, and once alerted, a pronghorn can put hundreds of yards between itself and danger in a matter of seconds. Hand drawn by hunter, guide, outdoorswoman, and artist Lydia Smith, the SpeedGoat Tee celebrates the unmistakable character of the pronghorn and what makes pursuing them so memorable. For those who wear it, the artwork is a reminder of long stalks through open country, opportunities that can disappear in seconds, and an animal that has earned the respect of generations of Western hunters by rarely making success easy.
