Brush Cherry / Australian Cherry (Syzygium australe)

A fast-growing native species valued for its dense, glossy foliage and small white flowers, followed by edible red berries that attract birds. Well-suited to South East Queensland’s climate, it makes an excellent hedge or screen, providing privacy while also contributing to local biodiversity. Its tolerance for a range of soil conditions and resilience to coastal winds make it a practical addition to gardens seeking both structure and ecological benefits.
