Founder Carlos Arturo Trujillo has dedicated much of his life to cultivating coffee, but the next chapter of Patio Bonito is being shaped alongside his daughter, Paola. After years working as a professional cupper and coffee buyer in Nariño and Huila, Paola returned to the family farm in 2022, bringing fresh expertise and a new perspective on fermentation and processing. Together, they've been exploring innovative techniques while remaining committed to the farm's core values of soil conservation, food security and sustainable coffee cultivation. About the Lot Bourbon Aji is one of the many fascinating varieties cultivated at Patio Bonito, where the family grows 13 different coffee varieties across nine hectares. For this natural lot, ripe cherries are carefully selected, sorted and dried on covered raised beds for at least two weeks. Throughout drying, the cherries are moved regularly to encourage consistency and develop a clean, expressive cup. The result is a wonderfully distinctive coffee, showcasing the variety's character through the sweetness of Muscatel, juicy Apple and the intriguing Japanese plum-wine character of Umeshu. A beautiful example of how experience, curiosity and a little experimentation can come together in one cup.
