Cool Victorian collar (is it really a book chain?) dating from the mid-19th century, circa 1860. Its construction is rather unusual, with engraved 3D oval - ellipsoid - shaped links alternately offset and joined by silver hoops. 17.25 inches is a generous length, and it fastens with a bolt ring clasp.
