The Artist’s Tree: Five Artists Five Ornaments. One Very Creative Christmas. Turn your Christmas tree into a tiny art gallery! In this special Art History: Hands On workshop, we’ll revisit five distinctive artists and art movements and use their ideas as inspiration for a set of five hand-painted wooden ornaments. Each ornament becomes a small canvas as we explore how artists have used geometry, color, nature, repetition, and design to create instantly recognizable visual styles. We’ll take inspiration from: Piet Mondrian’s bold geometry and primary colors Georgia O’Keeffe’s dramatic natural forms Yayoi Kusama’s joyful repetition and dots Bauhaus experimental shapes and design principles Art Nouveau with it's flowing botanical lines But this isn’t about making miniature copies of famous artwork. We’ll look at what makes each artist or movement distinctive, then use those ideas to create something of your own. Change the colors, choose your subject, experiment with the design, and give each ornament your own creative personality. By the end of the afternoon, you’ll have a collection of five original ornaments ready to hang on your tree, display in your home, or give as handmade gifts. You may even come away looking at a few familiar artists in a completely new way.
