Pair of Paavo Tynell ’80112-25’ Milk Glass Ceiling Lights, Idman, Finland, 1950s
A pair of Model ’80112-25’ ceiling lights designed by Paavo Tynell and manufactured by Idman in Finland during the 1950s. Each light consists of a simple rounded milk glass shade held close to the ceiling by a painted metal mounting plate. The smooth, softly curved form is free from unnecessary decoration, allowing the opaline glass and quality of light to define the design. When illuminated, the milk glass produces an even, warm and pleasantly softened light. Their compact proportions and minimal form make them particularly versatile, suitable for hallways, bedrooms, kitchens and other spaces with lower ceilings. Offered as a matching pair, they also work particularly well installed together or in adjoining rooms. The original Idman manufacturer’s labels remain on both mounting plates.
