It is ideal for: Sewists wanting to move beyond commercial patterns and draft their own pant styles Anyone who has struggled with common fit issues such as crotch depth, hip curves, or waistband gaping Fashion students building their patternmaking skills in trousers and tailored pants Anyone wanting to understand the differences between flat front and pleated trouser construction Participants should have some basic sewing or patternmaking experience before attending. Overview In this hands-on intensive participants will draft two distinct pant patterns — a flat front pant with a curved contoured waistband, and a pleated trouser with a classic waistband finish - using industry-standard pattern blocks adapted to their own measurements. Over three sessions participants will learn specialist patternmaking techniques, explore construction through a wide variety of samplers and pre-made garments, and develop the skills to achieve a professional result. Fly construction, pocket bags, welt pockets, and high-end finishing techniques are all covered. Measurement & Pattern Drafting How to accurately take and record personal measurements for a customised fit Techniques for drafting two unique pant patterns using your own measurements Flat Front Pant Drafting a flat front pant with a curved contoured waistband Key fitting techniques and design principles for flat front styles Pleated Trouser Drafting a pleated trouser with a classic waistband finish Understanding how the pleated style affects fit and comfort Construction & Finishing Fly construction, pocket bags, and welt pockets High-end finishing techniques for a professional result How to identify and apply common fit adjustments Each session builds on the last. Session 1 covers introductions, measuring, and drafting the flat front pant. Session 2 finalises the flat front and begins the pleated trouser. Session 3 completes the tailored trouser pattern.
