Sörgemarch (Funeral March) for Brass Ensemble, Gong and Organ by Johan Peter Emilius Hartmann has been edited by Niels-Ole Bo Johansen. This somber yet majestic work was composed in 1844 for the state funeral (attended by the Royal Family) of the famous Danish sculpturer Bertel Thorvaldsen, one of the most prominent artists of the day. Sörgemarch is still being performed to this day for various state and royal funerals in Denmark. The instrumentation is for: Cornet in B-flat, Alto Trombone, Tenor Trombone, Bass Trombone, Tuba, Organ and Gong. This work of about 4 minutes in length is suitable for advanced performers.
