From the celebrated Tharsis mining district of Andalusia, Spain — one of the few localities in the world known to produce goethite with this quality of iridescence.The surface is entirely botryoidal, built up from tightly packed rounded orbs in deep charcoal and iron-black. Across this, a vivid iridescent film shifts between crimson, magenta, teal-green, and violet depending on the angle and light source — the effect is almost oil-slick in its intensity, with pockets of brighter colour concentrated along the ridges and edges of the botryoidal formations. The close-up shots show the full complexity of the colour play particularly well.Goethite is a stone of attunement and inner knowing, said to support focus, grounding, and connection to the earth.
