Faience, 2” height modeled as a standing pharaoh in mummy or ushabti stance. These were made in Egypt for sale to primarily English aristocratic youths who, upon achieving the age of 21, would take a once-in-a-lifetime tour of the ancient monuments and sites to complete their educational experience and undoubtedly spread some wild oats before starting their professional careers. They were sold as genuine, as were reproductions of ancient pottery and other artifacts. Mounted for modern wear with silver suspension and Sterling silver neck chain. Genuine antique replicating the 3000-year-old original.
