Versace Fall 2002 Patchwork Jacquard Coat

An extraordinary Versace Fall 2002 coat crafted from a spectacular multicoloured floral jacquard, combining luminous yellow, soft blush pink and rich green panels with intricate woven motifs throughout. The design has the highly elaborate, couture-like sensibility of the Atelier Versace collection from the same season, with an architectural fitted silhouette, sharply constructed lapels and beautifully contrasting panels. The back is particularly striking, featuring a large blush-pink satin-like panel framed by the jacquard and a dramatic pointed construction that continues into the skirt of the coat. Finished with ornate filigree buttons, concealed side pockets and beautifully tailored sleeves. The coat is an exceptional example of the opulent, highly decorative approach to early-2000s Versace. We previously sold a suit from this same collection to Natasha Poonawalla, for the reference of the pattern, making this an especially exciting piece for collectors of the season. The coat is photographed on a sample-size mannequin without any pinning or alterations, so the fit shown is intentionally relaxed. Despite being labelled an Italian 46, the structured tailoring allows it to be styled beautifully on smaller sizes as well.
