35S Draken

The Saab 35S Draken was the Finnish version of the Saab 35XS, developed for the Finnish Air Force as an all-weather interceptor. Based on the Saab 35F2, the aircraft were supplied from Sweden and assembled in Finland by Valmet. A total of 12 Saab 35S Drakens were assembled in Finland between 1974 and 1975. The Draken brought an important improvement to Finland’s air defence capability, giving the Finnish Air Force a modern all-weather interceptor alongside its existing fighter fleet. The Draken family served in Finland until 2000 and became an important part of Finnish Cold War aviation history.
