The sketch captures it from the boardwalk at the heart of the Halifax Waterfront, where the iconic Cable Wharf building anchors the scene in warm red brick, its Cows Ice Cream sign glowing at street level. The Harbour Queen and Ambassador Tours vessels sit dockside to the left, while the Tall Ship Silva stands anchored in the bay, its masts rising above the roofline. To the right, Cafe Lunette spills onto the boardwalk under golden umbrellas, its chalkboard sign and flower boxes drawing in the afternoon crowd. The Cable Wharf sits within the Queens Marque district, Halifax's landmark waterfront development that has transformed Lower Water Street into one of the most vibrant destinations on the East Coast. The boardwalk here connects the Historic Properties, the ferry terminal, and the broader waterfront promenade, making it a natural gathering place for cruise ship passengers, cyclists, and anyone drawn to the harbour. Cafe Lunette has become a beloved fixture of the scene, known for its relaxed patio and front-row views of the harbour. The Tall Ship Silva, a regular presence on the Halifax waterfront, offers sailing excursions that take visitors out past Georges Island and into the open Atlantic.
