Apple 'Silken'
The Silken apple is a Canadian-developed dessert apple known for its creamy yellow, translucent skin and crisp, juicy, honeyed flavor. Developed in 1982 in Summerland, British Columbia, it is a cross between Honeygold and Sunrise and is named in honor of Canadian Olympic rower Silken Lauman Taste Profile: Sweet and subtly tart with mild acidity and light honey notes. Texture: Crisp, aqueous, and fine-textured with a delicate, "silky" skin. Best Used For: Primarily enjoyed as a fresh-eating dessert apple, but also suitable for baking and applesauce. Harvest Season: Ripens very early, typically late August to early September
