antique french gilt metal keyhole escutcheon with drop pull

A decorative drawer mount in warm gilt metal—a keyhole escutcheon and pull in one, modelled as a ribbon-tied tassel with a little foliate crest above the keyhole. The hinged lower section swings down as a handle, so it both dresses the lock and opens the drawer. The gilding has softened into the recesses with age, leaving the kind of mellow, used finish that salvaged hardware is loved for. Lovely on a small cabinet or jewellery box, or kept as a curiosity.
