For those with normal vision this is somewhere between 50 and 70mm. 6X magnification is, about the strongest (closest working distance) you can get if you want to maintain stereo vision. Highest magnifications with the auxiliary lens Instead of checking your work periodically with a jewellers loupe, it's handy to swing the auxiliary lens down for very close inspection, then flip it back out the way and continue working.
