New Moon Jar: Perseu III
Deep brown glaze wraps this ceramic moon jar by Gianfranco Briceño, broken open by panels of celadon green where reclining figures are drawn into the surface. A torn, cream-glazed mouth sits at the top like a crown, with reds and ochres surfacing around the base. Handmade in high temperature ceramic, worked in engobes, oxides, and glazes. Briceño is a Peruvian ceramicist, sculptor, painter, and photographer based in São Paulo, Brazil who uses themes of masculinity and sexuality in his multidisciplinary practice.
