Both artists have forged their reputations on pushing the deep techno sound forward with distinctive approaches to synthesis and sequencing. VALA5 came together as a natural product of mutual respect—Konduku had been thoroughly road-testing Kaspiann’s tracks, and so he matched them with complementary productions of his own. Konduku takes up the A side with ‘Window,’ a melancholic arp-led enchantment that contrasts perfectly with the metallic thump of ‘Kastanje’. On the flip, Kaspiann’s ‘Tykkykansa’ is a tunnelling tapestry of intricate percussive and tonal patterns leading straight into the taut, looped-up minimalism of ‘Henkinen’.
