Starfish Australian Boulder Opal Charm 14k

Boulder opal is rarely carved into anything with this much sculptural depth. This starfish holds a raised center dome surrounded by hand carved ridges, each one catching light differently as it moves. The color here is light ocean blue. Soft blue grey across most of the surface, with a single flash of green and gold color on color at top left that only shows in direct light. This is a piece that rewards a closer look rather than announcing itself from across a room. Mined in ironstone above ground in Queensland, inspected and carved by hand by the same small team that sources every piece in this collection. The carving alone took real judgment. One wrong cut and the color underneath disappears. Solid 14k gold hardware. One of one. 8.54 carats, solid 14k gold, 4mm bail opening just shy of 1” long
