UGREEN CM692 · Product 25961 Control two computers with one monitor, keyboard and mouse The UGREEN CM692 HDMI KVM Switch lets two computers share one HDMI display and up to four USB 3.0 peripherals. Switch your screen, keyboard, mouse, storage and other compatible USB devices from one computer to the other using the button on the unit or the included wired desktop controller. 2 Computers 1 HDMI Monitor HDMI 2.1 Up to 8K@60Hz 4 × USB 3.0 Up to 5Gbps Wired Controller What a KVM switch does KVM stands for keyboard, video and mouse. Instead of maintaining separate screens and peripherals for two computers, this switch allows one selected computer at a time to use the connected HDMI monitor and shared USB devices. This is not an HDMI splitter. It switches between Computer 1 and Computer 2; it does not show both computers simultaneously and does not combine their images. Connection map Every computer needs both video and USB data For full KVM operation, connect each computer to its matching HDMI input and USB-C upstream data port. HDMI carries video and audio; the USB connection allows the shared keyboard, mouse and other USB peripherals to follow the selected computer. Cables you need for a complete setup Computer 1: 1 HDMI cable + 1 USB-A-to-USB-C data cable. Computer 2: 1 HDMI cable + 1 USB-A-to-USB-C data cable. Monitor: 1 HDMI cable from HDMI OUT to the display. The box lists two HDMI cables and two USB-A-to-USB-C cables. You therefore need an existing or separately purchased third HDMI cable for the monitor output. A USB-C power cable and power adapter are not included. High-resolution HDMI switching Up to 8K@60Hz or high-refresh 4K HDMI 2.1 support enables video modes up to 8K@60Hz and, with a fully compatible chain, high-refresh modes up to 4K@240Hz. It is backward compatible with commonly used 4K, 1440p and 1080p HDMI equipment. Maximum performance requires every part of the chain—both source devices, the monitor and every HDMI cable—to support the selected resolution, refresh rate, colour format and HDMI bandwidth. Actual available modes are determined by the least capable component. Shared USB 3.0 hub Three USB-A ports plus one USB-C data port Connect up to four compatible USB peripherals and move them with the selected computer. The three USB-A ports and one USB-C port support USB 3.0 data rates up to 5Gbps. The front USB-C port is for peripheral data only. It does not accept video input, output video or charge a laptop. Powering connected USB devices Keyboards, mice and low-power USB accessories may operate from the power available through the host USB connections. For external hard drives, webcams and other higher-power peripherals, connect a suitable USB-C power source to the rear power-only port. Power input: USB-C, 5V⎓3A maximum. The power-only port does not carry data or video. The USB-C power cable and power adapter are not included. Two switching methods Switch at the unit or from your desktop Press the button on top of the KVM or use the included 1.5m wired desktop controller. The controller lets you keep the main switch and cable bundle away from the centre of your desk while retaining convenient access. Keyboard-hotkey switching is not supported. Use the physical button or wired controller. Driver-free operation Designed for mixed-computer workspaces The KVM itself requires no software driver and supports compatible Windows, macOS and Linux computers. Your sources must provide HDMI video and USB data connections, and each connected peripheral must support the operating system in use. HDMI source devices such as game consoles may also be connected for video switching, but keyboard, mouse and USB accessory support depends on the source device, game or application. What is included 1 × UGREEN CM692 HDMI KVM Switch 2 × USB-A-to-USB-C data cables, approximately 1.5m each 2 × HDMI cables, approximately 1m each 1 × Wired desktop controller, approximately 1.5m 1 × User manual Monitor-output HDMI cable, USB-C power cable and power adapter are not included. Each computer can provide one HDMI video output and one USB data connection. You have or will purchase the third HDMI cable required for the monitor output. Every source, display and HDMI cable supports your intended resolution and refresh rate. You do not require keyboard-hotkey switching or EDID emulation. You are not planning to route this KVM through a docking station. You can provide suitable 5V USB-C power for high-power USB peripherals if necessary. Frequently asked questions Can both computers appear on the monitor at the same time? No. This is a KVM switch, not a picture-by-picture processor or HDMI splitter. The monitor displays the currently selected computer only. Does it support two monitors? No. CM692 product 25961 has one HDMI output and supports one monitor. It is not a dual-monitor KVM. Why does each computer need both HDMI and USB connections?HDMI carries video and audio. The USB-A-to-USB-C host cable carries data between the selected computer and the shared keyboard, mouse, printer, storage and other USB devices. Both are required for full KVM operation. Are all required HDMI cables included? The box lists two HDMI cables, while a two-computer/one-monitor setup uses three HDMI connections. Use the included cables for the two computer inputs and provide an additional suitable HDMI cable for the monitor output. Is a power adapter included? No. A USB-C power cable and power adapter are not included. For high-power USB peripherals, connect an appropriate USB-C power source within the stated 5V⎓3A maximum input. Can the USB-C ports carry video or charge my laptop? No. The PC-side and front shared USB-C ports are for USB data, while the separate rear USB-C power port is power-only. The KVM does not accept USB-C video and does not provide laptop Power Delivery charging. What is required for 8K@60Hz or 4K@240Hz?Both computers, the monitor and all HDMI cables in the active path must support the selected mode and required HDMI bandwidth. Use short, appropriately rated cables and enable a mutually supported display setting. The least capable component determines the final output. Can I switch computers with a keyboard shortcut? No. Hotkey switching is not supported. Switch using the button on the KVM or the included wired desktop controller. Does it support EDID emulation? No. Because EDID emulation is not supported, the computer and monitor may perform a fresh HDMI handshake when switching. A brief black screen or window rearrangement can occur, particularly when the two computers use different display settings. Can it be connected through a docking station?Docking-station operation is not supported for this model. Direct HDMI and USB data connections from each computer are recommended. Can I use an external hard drive or SSD?Yes, subject to power and compatibility. Connect an appropriate external USB-C power source for a bus-powered drive, and always eject the drive safely from the active computer before switching to avoid file corruption. Will a wireless keyboard and mouse work?Compatible USB receivers can work, but wireless range and interference still matter. Keep the receiver close to the keyboard and mouse and away from metal obstacles or high-interference USB devices. Does it work with Windows, macOS and Linux? The KVM is driver-free and supports compatible Windows, macOS and Linux systems. Each peripheral must also support the operating system, and the computer must provide the required HDMI and USB connections. Can I connect a game console?A compatible HDMI console can be used as a video source. Shared keyboard, mouse, storage and controller support depends on the console, game and USB accessory; the KVM does not add unsupported console functions. Does HDMI audio switch with the picture?Yes. Compatible HDMI audio follows the selected source to the display. There is no separate analogue audio input or output on this model.
