Blue and White Temple Jar, Birds and Flowers Clearance
These lovely reproduction porcelain temple jars are made in the traditional way, hand thrown on a potter's wheel and decorated by hand using a blue cobalt pigment. The design shows various birds, trees and flowers, including a golden pheasant to represent power and authority. A temple lion, a symbol for protection against evil, sits atop the lid. The jars are produced in Jingdezhen - considered the capital of Chinese porcelain production for centuries and home to the famous imperial kilns during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Note that the jar is reduced as the lid is missing.
