This species is native to Western North America from British Columbia and Alberta to northern California to Wyoming. It can be found in many types of rocky habitat, such as cliffs, talus, and steep ridges. Sedum stenopetalum is a succulent with decumbent branched stems tipped by rosettes. Flower stalks with numerous adventitious yellow buds and glossy green foliage with reddish tinge in winter. Interesting self-sowing choice for green roofs.
