Aubrey Hand-Embroidered Linen Cushion

This intricately hand-embroidered cushion celebrates the rich complexity of Aubrey Beardsley's Art Nouveau botanical forms. Designed in-house, the piece draws upon the interlacing patterns that unfold in Beardsley's work, whilst reimagining them through a more luminous and uplifting colour palette. The design intention was to create a bold, exuberant interplay of colour that conjures up the sensation of stepping outdoors into sunlight. Depth and visual intrigue are created throughout the piece as fluid sinuous vines and tendrils twist around three-dimensional seed heads, heavily stitched to reflect the density of detail found in Beardsley's illustrations. As an advanced piece, this design requires precise application of multiple stitching techniques, and has provided valuable learning opportunities for our stitchers. Size approx.
