Vida Peter Idyll 2022
Produced by Vida Péter in Hungary’s Szekszárd region, this wine comes from one of the country’s most respected family estates, known for elegant expressions of local varieties and careful low intervention winemaking. The vineyards are planted on rolling hills composed of loess, clay and limestone soils, where the warm continental climate and cooling evening influences encourage balanced ripening and freshness. Made predominantly from Kékfrankos with selected Bordeaux varieties depending on the vintage, fermentation takes place in stainless steel followed by ageing in French oak barrels to build texture and complexity while maintaining balance. Aromas of blackberry, black cherry and plum combine with notes of violet, spice and subtle toasted oak. The palate is refined and structured with ripe tannins, fresh acidity and layered dark fruit flavours leading to a long savoury finish. It pairs particularly well with roast lamb, grilled beef, game dishes and mature hard cheeses.
