Turkish Ushak Rug

This is a brand new authentic Turkish Ushak rug, handmade in Afghanistan. These rugs are woven in the city of Ushak, western Turkey. Originally Ushak rugs were mainly suited for large interior spaces, where they were highly traded in European markets during the Ottoman era. They come in two main variations: Medallion Ushak rugs (large central medallions with corner spandrels, influenced by Persian designs), and Star Ushak (repeating star-shaped motifs across the field and geometric motifs). They have a relatively lower knot count which suits the bold large motifs and the thick pile.
