Mid-century Dry Lacquer Sculptural Object, Myth ー井村 嘉代子 “神話 1964”
A mid-century style dry lacquer work mounted on a stand titled Shinwa (mythology, or legend) and dated by 1964 Imura Kayoko of Nagoya, the goddess of the Japanese Ningyo (doll) art world. It is 24 x 17.5 x 47.5 cm (9-1/2 x 7 x 19 inches) and is in excellent condition, enclosed in a custom made wooden storage box. Imura Kayoko was a nationally renowned craftsperson instrumental in bringing the art of doll making to the fore. She passed away in 2003.
