The tree reaches 150 feet tall with a trunk with 10 feet in diameter. It has conic crown with level branches and dropping branches. The leaves are needle like, mostly 2-5 cm long, slender, borne singly on long shoots and in dense cluster of the 20-30 on short shoots. it has dark-blue-green needlelike leaves, yellow male cones, and green female seed cones. They vary from bright green to blue green in color. The female cones are barrel shaped 7-15 cm long and 5-10 cm broad and disintegrate when mature to release the winged seeds. The male cones are 4-5 cm long & shade their pollen in autumn. How to use: Decoctions are suitable for roots, barks, large seeds & berries, and other dense material. The simple way to make decoction is, in a saucepan, add 1 tablespoon of dried herbs to 1 cup of water. Bring the water to boil, reduce heat and simmer for 30-60 minutes. Strain and squeeze out as much as liquid as possible and enjoy! Tips: You can sweeten your herbal decoctions with bit of honey, natural fruit juice, stevia leaves powder and or licorice root powder.
