This microphone has been built with both custom new, and vintage parts. The shell is a genuine Shure 520 in anodized green. These are the same shells as mid-90s Shure 520D microphones. The custom-machined steel grill has been triple show-chromed, and is in perfect, new cosmetic condition. But if you’re into tone more than cosmetics, you’ll like this microphone. It has an excellent, high-impedance, strong, vintage Shure controlled magnetic element. This is the same element used in 1980-1997 Shure 520D microphones. The connector is a vintage King Manufacturing Switchcraft-style 5/8” screw-on model. Inside is a fresh new gasket from Jeffrey Spoor. The paint is original, and perfect too. Good, honky, solid tone, with a nice fat bottom and distortion. A great updated version of the Shure 520 series mics. Sounds excellent. Ready for the stage.
