Afghan War Rug

This is a brand new authentic Afghan War rug, handmade in Afghanistan. This is an accent rug that can be placed in smaller spaces in living rooms, bedrooms, foyers, dining rooms, study rooms and kitchens. This rug can also be placed on the wall as an ornamental piece. War rugs typically depict the Soviet-Afghan war during the 1970s with military hardware. There are also new designs of Afghan War rugs that tell the more recent history of Afghanistan, namely the war on terror and the events of the September 11th attacks in New York. The motifs are refined and detailed than the older designs and colours are more vibrant. Although termed "war" rugs, these rugs are meant to simply portray the events that Afghanistan was involved in. They are woven accounts of the visuals of the past, often made to lament over what has happened. Whereas traditional rugs were made by nomads who would weave what they observed in the beauty of nature, it is tragic that weavers in the 20th and 21st century weave what they used to see plenty of around them - war.
