Special Event | Chinese Go Game & Gong Fu Cha
Special Event | Chinese Go Game & Gong Fu Cha 27 June | 15:00–17:00 | Den Haag Limited seats Together with the China Cultural Center in The Hague and Chinese Calligraphy Artist Liza, we invite you into a refined cultural experience, where the rhythm of Gong Fu Cha meets the quiet depth of Go (Weiqi). A quiet invitation to step closer into taste, into thought, into the living spirit of Eastern culture. Go is an abstract strategy board game for two players in which the aim is to fence off more territory than the opponent. The game was invented in China more than 2,500 years ago and is believed to be the oldest board game still played today. You will be gently introduced to the ancient art of Go. Guided by Daniel Shou, a TU Delft physicist , two-time Dutch National Youth Champion, and European youth competitor, you will explore the foundations of the game, not simply as rules, but as a way of thinking: subtle positioning, long-term vision, and the balance between restraint and action. In parallel, we will present high-end teas, selected from our latest curation and prepared in traditional Gong Fu Cha way with care. Each infusion reveals itself slowly layer by layer, inviting a heightened sense of attention, presence, and clarity. Tea softens the mind. Go sharpens it. Together, they open a space rarely found in modern life. Experience Flow Arrival & settling in Guests are welcomed into a calm, prepared space, with a moment to arrive and shift into a slower rhythm. Introduction to Gong Fu Cha & tea experience We begin by introducing the essence of Gong Fu Cha, a mindful way of preparing tea rooted in precision, attention, and respect for the leaves. Teas are then prepared with care, guiding your senses towards aroma, texture, and a more focused, present state of mind. Introduction to Go (Weiqi) Guests are introduced to the board by instructor and begin playing through simple, intuitive guidance, learning by placing, observing, and responding. Immersion & interaction Tea and play continue in a natural rhythm. As focus deepens, subtle strategy, balance, and timing begin to reveal themselves through the game. Unhurried close The session remains open at the end, allowing time to linger, exchange, and carry the experience forward. This session is designed for a small group of limited seats to ensure personal guidance. Reserve your spots now for a special afternoon where cultures, joys and strategy come together.
