Built from sturdy local stone and topped with a slate-tiled roof, the barn was constructed to withstand harsh winters and protect valuable harvests. Wagons once passed through its wide doors laden with grain, while farmers gathered beneath its rafters to prepare for the changing seasons. When war arrived, the barn's solid construction gave it a new purpose. Its thick stone walls offered protection from shellfire, making it an ideal storehouse, field depot, or temporary refuge. Supplies were hidden within, vehicles sheltered alongside its walls, and soldiers found cover where livestock and harvests had once been kept.
