WFSZ 2002 - Silky Caramel Mid Fire - 10kg
WFSZ 2002 — Silky Caramel Mid-Fire A beautifully forgiving cream-buff stoneware that fires to a silky, warm caramel — flattering under glazes, quietly handsome on its own. Built around 20% fine chamotte at 0.2 mm, WFSZ 2002 gives modellers just enough tooth to work willingly, yet picks up the finest plaster-mould detail crisply and cleanly. One European potter reports press-moulding 45 cm forms and drying them safely without distortion. On the wheel it's a pleasure for small to medium work — mugs, bowls, bottles, beakers, tableware-scale. Fully vitreous by Cone 6 (water absorption 0.1%): dense, ringing, food-safe, dishwasher- and microwave-safe. Shrinkage is moderate and well-mannered, so pieces hold their proportions and slabs stay flat. At lower temperatures the fired body lands as a pale cream. As it climbs toward 1200 °C it deepens into the silky caramel of our test tiles — a quietly luxurious tone that makes glazes sing. One clay to carry you from school-room hand-building through tableware throwing into decorative work, and look beautiful at every stage. All-purpose, easy under the hands, forgiving in the kiln, a quiet delight to look at. Specifications Chamotte: 20% at 0–0.2 mm Firing range: 1000–1200 °C (Cone 06 to Cone 6) Water absorption at 1200 °C: 0.1% (fully vitrified) Shrinkage: 5% wet-to-dry, 7.5% dry-to-fired Fired colour: light cream at low fire, deepening to silky caramel at Cone 6 Best for: hand-building, modelling, plaster-press, throwing small–medium forms, tableware, decorative work
