Drop off at 12:30, pick up at 3:00pm Activities Game Coding with Scratch™ or Python™ 3D printing and CAD Design™ Robotics with Lego™ Digital Art and Animation with Inkscape™ and Synfig Studio™ Modding Minetest™ Engineering Challenges Sylvan Learning of Red Deer's technology camps are back. We now have a new day just for Home schooled students. Starting in September and continuing until June, we will be hosting your choice of 1/2day or full day technology camps the first Wednesday of each month. Students will rotate through a variety of activities. Activities we feature often are, robotics with Lego™, game coding with Scratch™ or Python, 3D Printing/CAD design, Digital Art with Inkscape ™, Animation with Tupi ™ or SynfigStudio plus an engineering challenge is given at the start of the day. After a project is completed students get to collaborate in a MineCraft ™ like world called Minetest ™. There they will be challenged to build, craft, farm and collaborate to survive. They will have to think about things like shelter, food, & defence all while trying to find or craft the resources they need. They can be further challenged to complete guided instructions learning how to modify the Minetest environment using a programming language called Lua. Multiple levels of difficulty are available in each activity so suitable material is available for students from grade 3 to grade 10. Grade 2 students are welcome to try a 1/2 day. Instructors assist students through guided instruction on the use of 3D CAD software as they design various objects, that upon completion they get to keep. Robotics with Lego™... Instructors assist students as they follow guided instruction creating a robot or machine that uses gears, pulleys, levers, and other simple machines to transfer motion from a motor. World Craft collaboration ...Students will collaborate in building a world in a locally connected version of Minetest (tm). Minetest is a voxel block game very much like Minecraft ™. Digital Art with Inkscape™ ... Inkscape is a free and open-source vector graphics editor.
