Production was halted due to the bomb raids targeting the River Clyde's shipyards during WW2, one raid damaged the distillery in 1941. Production restarted in 1948 and has stopped since. Auchentoshan triple distil their drams to create a pure, smooth spirit which has string notes of citrus, fruit and wood. This 18 year old single malt showcases Auchentosh's triple distillation and signature smoothness. The flavour and nose is intensified by the long maturation in ex-Bourbon American Oak and Spanish Oloroso Sherry Oak casks. Nose: tobacco leaf, a hint of caramelised sugar, green tea and almonds. Taste: smooth, vibrant and fresh with an initial burst of sweet barley followed by tangy zestiness. Finish: long, lingering and well balanced.
